Holy
Trinity Pre-School
Welcome
to the webpage for Holy Trinity Pre-School!

Holy
Trinity Pre-School Team, Sarah Gill - Pre-School Manager and Holy
Trinity Church Hall and Grounds
At
Holy Trinity Pre-school we want your child to have a fun and happy
experience as they start out on their first adventure away from
home. We believe we offer that.
Sessions
Session
times are Monday to Friday 9am - 12 noon, operating close to school
terms. We are registered with OFSTED, which enables us to claim
Nursery Education Grant the term after your child's third birthday.
We are able to welcome twenty six children in each session from
2½ years old and they can stay with us until they go to
mainstream school at 4 years of age.
A
policy of 'learning through play' is included in our curriculum.
At Holy Trinity Pre-school, all children are supported in developing
their potential at their own pace. Our keyworker system enables
us to ensure a planned curriculum tailored to the needs of the
individual child is delivered, by means of developmentally appropriate
play activities and a high level of individual adult input. We
offer a curriculum that leads to nationally approved learning
goals.
Our
aims
- To
enhance the development and education of children under statutory
school age in a parent-involving, community-based group.
- To
provide a happy, safe, secure and stimulating environment
for everybody who attends or visits
- To
work within a framework which ensures equality of opportunity
for all children and families
- To
ensure that everybody in our setting, their opinions and their
talents are respected and valued.
- To
admit children with special educational needs after a familiarisation
period which is appropriate to the child's needs; parents
may stay with their child initially, according to the needs
of the child.
We
offer your child
- A
first curriculum under the 'Birth to Three' guidelines.
- A
specially tailored curriculum leading to Foundation curriculum
'stepping stones' goals.
- Individual
care and attention made possible by a high ratio of adults
to children
- Fun
and friendship with children and other adults
- The
support of a personal keyworker
- Opportunities
for you and your family to be directly involved in the activities
of the group and in your own child's progress
The
activities your child will experience on a 'typical morning'
- Come
into the hall and find your named peg for your coat and bag
in the corridor.
- Put
any fruit you've brought into the fruit basket
- It's
9am and we open the door
- Find
your name on the table and put on our registration board,
put any special things you've brought from home into the treasure
box.
- Then
it's off to your first activity, oops not forgetting to say
goodbye to whoever brought you!
- What
will you choose? The home area, book corner, painting, sand,
topic based activities, dough or Duplo?
- Around
10.30am you must be feeling a bit tired, so go and have a
drink and snack in our café.
- If
the weather allows you can go and play outside on our bikes,
cars, climbing frame. Sometimes there are balls, stompers
and other toys to play with. If the weather isn't kind to
us, you could choose to dress up, play with dolls, trains,
and jigsaw or on the computer. Don't forget to listen to the
story or join in with the singing!
- At
11.50am we all sit down, collect our 'work' and letters. Lastly
we say goodbye and let your parent in to take you home.
The
Pre-School Management and Team
Sarah
Gill manages the pre-school's day-to-day operations with an excellent
team of a minimum of five early years practitioners interacting
with the children. We operate a keyworker system and your child
will be allocated to a particular practitioner who will work closely
with your child. All practitioners at the setting will have contact
with your child during different times of the session.
The
setting
Holy Trinity Pre-school is a single level building with disabled
access and toilet facilities, including baby-changing facilities.
We have our own secure separate rooms, including a secure garden
for the children to play in. We have close links with Knaphill
Lower School, and enjoy access to their environmental area. We
liase with other local schools' reception teachers and nursery
staff to ensure a smooth transition from our setting to your child's
next step in their development.
We
also have a separate coffee room where parents can relax before
or after drop-off times, giving opportunity to meet with other
parents and carers.
The
Parent Rota
The value of Holy Trinity Pre-school is greatly increased if the
children realise that members of their family are actively involved
in the life of the pre-school. There is a Parent/Carers rota where
you are invited to help at one of your child's sessions. All carers
are welcome, childminders, dads, mums, grandmas and grandpas.
Even if this is only once per term, it gives you the opportunity
to see how the pre-school works and how your child is settling
in. You will probably be surprised how much you enjoy it when
you do.
The
Role of Parents/Carers
Holy Trinity Pre-school recognises parents/carers as the first
and most important educators of their young children. We aim to
support parents and families. Parents/Carers are welcome to:
- Share
a session at pre-school with their child
- Stay
for a while in the small room (9am and 11.30am) to meet other
parents/carers, enjoy a coffee and support during their time
at the pre-school.
- Take
part in parenting courses offered by Holy Trinity Church.
- Join
the committee if a vacancy becomes available.
Waiting
List Application
If
you would like to register your interest in a place for your child
at Holy Trinity Pre-School, we recommend you do so as early as
possible as we are currently over-subscribed. You can either dowload
an application form here,
print it out and return to the church office, marking the envelope
'Waiting List Application' or alternatively, telephone
the church office on 01483 473489 or send an e-mailand
Jo will send you a form in the post. Please note that registering
your interest by returning an application form does not guarantee
your child a place at the Pre-School. Confirmation of a place
will be sent to you six weeks before term commencement, if your
application has been successful. In the meantime, it would be
well to register your interest at as many other pre-schools as
you are happy with. There is a very helpful government
website which helps you locate pre-schools in your local area.
We
look forward to getting to know your child and family soon!
