About
Our Midweek Groups and their Leaders
Bird's
Estate Midweek Group - led
by Bob Bailey
The
Bird's Estate house group meets on three Tuesday evenings a month
between approximately 8pm and 10pm and meetings are followed with
coffee. We often chat informally until after 11pm. Meetings start
with a special time of worship and finish with communal prayer.
We
meet in the homes of our members and we meet at a different home
each week. A programme is issued and it is wise to consult this
before planning to attend.
At
the current time, there are 11 members of the group and most of
these live on the Bird's Estate or in Lane End Drive. Members
are aged over 50 but we would welcome some new younger members.
The main thrust of the group is friendship, fellowship and encouragement
and we build upon this through studying the Bible. We take our
study of the Bible seriously but we do it in a light hearted way
which can be applied to every day living.
During
the last year we have studied the book of Esther and a series
called LifeShapes which looked at the way the Gospel shapes our
lives. We are currently working through a study on the names of
God. At other times we have studied Bible characters and important
issues facing Christians - so you can see that we have a varied
programme.
The social aspect of the group is important to us and we have
plenty of laughs. Once every three months, we have a pot luck
meal and in the summer this can take the form of a barbecue. On
Shrove Tuesday the men cooked pancakes for the ladies.
New
members are always welcome to the group. If you would like to
join us or know more about us, please contact Bob Bailey on 01483
