This
is the parish group for older teens (in school years 10-13).
Individual cell groups meet on Sunday evenings at
7-9pm in various locations around the parish, joining together
once a month on the 2nd Sunday at Holy Trinity for an Evening
Praise service.
It
is an extremely diverse group with members from different backgrounds
and with different interests. This year the TROG group has been
growing in numbers and currently has 26 members on its register.
The group meets regularly for socials and in the past year has
had a quiz and the annual Christmas Banquet amongst others.
Up till January 2008 the group was meeting weekly in St Saviour's
Hall. This year the group has changed to a cell system. Each
member is in a small group every other week and then all together
during the other weeks. This format has allowed us to be more
effective pastorally and has allowed us to cater for different
tastes and styles in our diverse group.
We
are, however, still growing and very soon we will need to multiply
the number of Cell groups. If you have a desire for helping
young people in there relationship with God and want to help
them with the struggles of teenage life in our secular world
then please talk to one of our dedicated leaders. They are Laurence
Foley, Jill Robson, Jeremy & Fiona Watson.
Some
quotes about TROG from our group members.
TROG is place where I can spend time with Christians my own
age. It's somewhere we can talk about issues of this world that
affect young people - Beth.
Myself
as a non Christian enjoy TROG because I meet people I know.
I appreciate TROG is Church based, but to me it's much more
- Will.
The
group is Bible-based but is open to new members and non-Christians
who want to find out more about the Christian faith.
