Dance
Group at Holy Trinity - led by Ruth Davies
Members
- Bethan Diane Collingridge, Ruth Davies, Naomi Hookins, Sylvia
Ramsay and Rebecca Smith.
We
meet most Thursday evenings from 8pm at Holy Trinity Church.
The dance group has seen some changes over the past year. The
junior dance group came to a natural halt at the end of July
2007 and Ruth took over the leadership of the adult dance group
in October so that Diane could take on leadership of the Ministry
Team at HT.
We
have for a long time now wanted to encourage our young people
in dance and so once a month, on the second Thursday, we meet
slightly earlier than usual at 7.30pm for Youth dance. We have
enjoyed working together on a regular basis and recently interpreted
the Temptations of Christ using art and classical music as well
as movement/drama/dance.
Our
aims are still to worship the Lord with all of our being, using
our bodies as well as our voices, and to encourage others in
their worship. Please speak to one of the group members if you
would like to know more or contact the church office on 01483
473489 or e-mail
Romans
12:1 calls us to "offer your bodies as living sacrifices,
holy and pleasing to God-this is your spiritual act of worship."
Therefore our first calling is to worship God with the whole
of us and to encourage others to worship Him "in spirit
and truth." We also seek to use movement to teach Biblical
truths (eg. moving to a Bible passage), and as a way through
which God can minister healing. Highlights in this last year
have been as follows (click on the links to view the dances
mentioned).
"
A very challenging dance which we were asked to do to illustrate
the Trinity.
We learned so much ourselves while exploring the theme, and
we were encouraged by comments like, "Oh, now I understand...!"
" A movement to "Blind
Bartimaeus."
