Prayer Ministry at Holy Trinity & St Saviour's Churches

Our central Value as a church is to hold everything in prayer before God. Taking time for personal prayer, praying corporately, sharing our concerns with the prayer ministry team and 'Making Jesus Visible by Word and Power' by praying for those we encounter in our daily lives and those who come for healing when we are Healing on the Streets.

The Prayer Ministry Team is a group of ordinary Christians who pray with people for their emotional, physical or spiritual situations, to receive God's peace and healing. This takes place primarily between the 9.30am & 11.15am services at Holy Trinity and after the 10.30am service at St Saviour's, but also at the monthly evening healing services at Holy Trinity.

We are "Making Jesus Visible" in our community by:

  • offering "Tea & Prayer" for anyone in the community each Tuesday afternoon in the King's House, which has been running now for a year. Whilst only a few come for prayer they appreciate it being available.
  • having 1 or 2 people available at Parent & Toddler Group most weeks to talk and pray with the parents and respond to written prayer requests posted in the "prayer box".
  • beginning Healing On the Streets

Stories from this year: As a team we pray before services to hear what God wants to say to the Church. One Sunday Dee had a picture of a butterfly emerging from a caterpillar and this was shared in the service. It was very relevant to the sermon which incorporated a video of a butterfly emerging from its cocoon.

Someone was completely healed from a very painful leg at an evening Healing Service.

Prayer: Last year we asked you to pray for more people to join us to share in this ministry, and especially men. We thank God that He has brought forward several new people to be involved in Healing on the Streets, all of which are men! But we do still need more people to join the team to pray in church.

We would also like to encourage people to share their stories of God's healing more, either within church or to us as a group. This builds up people's faith and encourages others to come for prayer. If you have a testimony you would like to share, please e-mail Jo in the church office so that it can be added to our 'Miracles' book.

Healing on the Streets (HOTS)
This is a new and exciting venture for us but is part of a much bigger vision, initiated by Mark Marx from Coleraine in Northern Ireland, of taking prayer for healing out onto the streets of our local communities. The team is gradually growing and is made up of some members of the Ministry Team plus others who feel drawn to this work.

Making Jesus Visible: The whole purpose of HOTS is to make Jesus visible as we share God's love and evidence of His healing with our community, building stepping stones for them to come to Jesus. We hope to be a regular presence where people get to know and trust us and where they can encounter Jesus, their Healer and their Saviour. So far we have prayed once at Sainsburys during the Parish Weekend in October 09 and outside the Kings House Coffee Shop on 27th Feb.

Recent Story: We recently prayed for a lady with back pain and migraines, and she felt peaceful with some relief from her pain. She returned about 30 mins later especially to tell us that her pain was much better! Praise God!

Prayer: We plan to offer HOTS monthly in Knaphill, and are also helping to set it up in Woking town centre, working with the Woking churches - the first event in Woking is planned to be 3rd April. For this we need sufficient people with a heart to share God's love in this way, who can be trained. But even more important is that God will empower each of us with His Spirit of love and power to enable us to do this work, as we can do nothing without Him.
