NEWS AND STORIES - 2010-02-27
Hello
- we are very haphazard at writing newsletters - if you would like
to be on our mailing list please e mail wokingbesom@hotmail.co.uk
saying newsletter please!
Besom
always has good stories where we see God working - very exciting.
David
was out on the van one day dropping off lots of furniture to a single
man in Goldsworth Park. Shall we put this hi fi on the van? asked
one of the team. No harm said the rest. They delivered the furniture
and David asked the man if there was anything else he would love.
Do you know, he said, I really miss my music! Well wouldn't it be
wonderful if we found a hi fi on the van! said David
Besom
runs by prayer. We don't ask for anything, but pray and worship
the Lord, and give Him our lives. We pray and sing and listen every
Wednesday morning in the warehouse. All welcome. At the moment there
are about 10 of us.
The
Lord sometimes answers before we have asked. A play pen has come
in, the only one we have ever had. A girl has been referred who
would love a play pen, which would enable her to go into the kitchen
without having to watch her toddler all the time.
Yesterday
we did an assessment with a social worker who referred a family
to us. We found the mum in tears. Her husband had just lost his
job that morning, leaving them with nothing. The nan was there and
said - I told you something would happen! Besom walked in, and listened
and later that day delivered a beautiful three piece suite, promised
a table and offered to decorate the living room. God is interested
in people's hearts. He has compassion, and gives hope. And His timing
is perfect.
Someone
has given some money, so we were able to buy a new cooker for a
family, whose cooker is dangerous. They grew up in care, and have
no background of family, so are doing family without a pattern to
follow. Social services had run out of money. We provided a new
cot mattress and cot, beds for the children, chests of drawers,
a wardrobe. Hope! They look happier. We would love someone to write
a simple recipe book for us to give them!
A
group decorated a lady's sitting room. Before they started that
morning, they had breakfast and prayed and the leader of the group
said: I don't know what we are going to do about the door. All bashed
in from the violent partner (now left) Oh said one of the group
- I can hang doors. And what they didn't know, but God did, that
when they removed the old door, all the memories left with it. The
lady never touched it, it had such bad memories.
Another
girl said to me: what is a little thing to you, is such a big thing
to me. I get up every morning and can open my curtains. They run
on curtain tracks now. And we gave her beautiful curtains. We are
looking for a group to put up curtain tracks and hang curtains,
maybe on Saturday mornings.
So
God bless you all - what you do makes a difference. We bring HOPE
in Jesus name.
